Perennials are a fantastic addition to the garden. They offer an affordable option to color up your yard. Some perennials are ground covers, others create flowers all summer and have nice fall colors. Most perennials will be 2-3ft tall or shorter with a few that are a little bit taller. Perennials will lose their leaves and branches when winter comes and to keep them looking nice and clean, it is best to cut off the dead branches right before winter or in spring.

Due to their smaller stature, they are among the easiest plants to grow but keep in mind that they do not have the root systems of a tree or large shrub so if they are placed in a super hot place and the weather is very dry, you should keep their roots moist and mulch helps a great deal with that. Some perennials are drought tolerant but that doesn't mean they can go a month without water if its +30 every day and they are in full sun.
